Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end — with the CW show The Originals being one of them. The series, a spinoff of The Vampire Diaries, is coming to a close after five seasons, and one of its lead actresses had an equally hard time saying goodbye to her character and the show. She feels our pain!

Phoebe Tonkin, who plays Hayley, spoke with W magazine on the heels of filming her last scene for the show, which began in 2013.

“It was a very emotional goodbye,” she said. “I don’t think I’ve totally digested it.”

Phoebe went on to say she’s super thankful for her experience on the series. “It has been a really big opportunity for me, and I am so grateful for the last five years, but also really excited to see what is next.”

So what is next for the Australian actress and former werewolf? A well-deserved rest! She added, “I think I’d like to take a little break, but also start to work on some different material or different type of roles.”

SPOLER ALERT: There is a fan theory that Hayley is killed off early in the season, but Phoebe didn’t give anything away about her character’s fate. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens to Hayley and the rest of the crew when The Originals wraps its final season.
